St. Lloyd Academy band welcomes You!

Welcome to the St. Lloyd Academy Band website! We are here to provide a musical education for students 8th-10th grade in a very special way. We provide many different and unique ensembles and groups at our school throughout the school year. We strive to broaden your child's music understanding in a education learning area, so it can be bright beyond high school. Here at St. Loyd we offer ensembles such as: Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, Solo/Ensemble groups, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard Ensemble and String Orchestra. We also offer a host of music classes for students education such as: Music Theory, Music Composition, Music History, and Music Appreciation.

Our ensembles meet at various times of the school year. Symphonic Band is a 4th period class that begins after the marching band season which starts at the beginning of the school year. Percussion Ensemble starts in the 2nd semester of school and meets on Mondays 3:45-5:30. We encourage non-percussion to come and try percussion ensemble. Jazz Band also starts in the 2nd semester of school and meets on Tuesdays 3:45-5:00. Solo/Ensemble groups are students who agree to work with other students or alone and work a piece for the solo/ensemble festival. This group is entirely optional, but it adds up for grades in music classes. These students may choose to meet during school during their free period. Pep Band is a group that plays at all basketball games like marching band, but during the winter season. These students practice after school on the day of games. Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a group made up of percussionist from marching band or 2 year veterans of percussion ensemble. This group meets Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after school from 3:45-6:00. They compete in many competitions like marching band. Indoor Winter Guard also consists of marching band members and practices Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school from 3:45-6:00 and they compete in competitions. It is also a class for the group during 7th period. String Orchestra is a class given during 5th period for students that play string instruments. Music Theory is taught to students 1st and 2nd period who sign up at the beginning of school on the first semester. Music Appreciation is taught during the 2nd semester. Music Comp. is a class taught to students in 3rd period who sign up at the beginning of the school year. This class is an all year around class.
